Presence not Presents
The holiday season is here. The present buying time has begun. I really love this time of year, its my favorite. I enjoy buying and making presents for the people I love. I also enjoy getting presents. But the most important present is the presence, the presence of Jesus the Christ in Christmas. He made his presence known in a manger as a baby with a star in the heavens and angels declaring his birth. He made his presence known as a man when the taught about and showed the love of God his father. He made his presence known when he healed the sick and raised the dead. He made his presence known as he hung on a cross carrying the punishment for sin he never committed but we did. He made his presence known when he rose from the dead and gave his disciples instructions on how to live before he went back to his father. And now he makes his presence known in the hearts of those who have chosen to accept his Holy Spirit into their hearts. His presence can be seen in the lives and even in the eyes of those his presence indwells. Presents are great but my prayer for you is that you have the presence of the one this holiday season celebrates. Giving presents is nice and fun but not eternal, Jesus presence is eternal. This season don’t do presents without the presence and have wonderful holiday season!
